The National Coalition for Public Education, of which AFSA is a member, released a new poll today revealing that the public is strongly opposed to taxpayer-funded private school vouchers, with 70 percent of respondents saying they oppose plans to shift public funding into private and religious schools through voucher plans. AFSA has signed on to a National Coalition to Protect Education (NCPE) letter that was sent to the Senate Friday morning opposing any amendments in the Senate Budget Resolution that would create a voucher program. So far one of the proposed amendments has already been opposed 39-60.
