San Francisco Mayor Issues Proclamation for AFSA

During AFSA’s West Coast Regional Leadership Conference, San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee issued a proclamation announcing that Oct. 28 is officially American Federation of School Administrators Day in San Francisco.

WHEREAS, since 1976, the American Federation of School Administrators (ASFA), AFL-CIO, has been fighting for quality public school education for students of all backgrounds; and

WHEREAS, the AFSA is the only international union that provides labor relations as well as professional and occupational services to public school principals, vice principals, administrators and supervisors in diverse school districts across the United States, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands; and

WHEREAS, the AFSA’s mission is to promote the professional, occupational and economic interests of its 20,000 members and fight for the highest quality public school education for all pupils; and

WHEREAS, the AFSA has designed a series of regional leadership conferences to educate and protect its membership through the implementation of the national education reform movement; and

WHEREAS, being held today and tomorrow in San Francisco, the AFSA West Coast Leadership Conference will include a number of resources including the latest research on principal effectiveness and a special presentation on social media and cyber bullying; and

WHEREAS, with the help of the American Federation of School Administrators, our nation’s principals and school administrators continue to play a critical role in leading our schools and educating our youth; now
