Peter McNally

Peter McNally is the Executive Director of the New York State Federation
Of School Administrators (NYSFSA). He had served as the President of
NYSFSA and Chairman of the NYS School Administrators Consortium (NYSSAC)
since 2006. Since September 2010, he is a member of the New York State
Education Department Task Force on Principal and Teacher Effectiveness.
He is also a member of the CUNY Hunter College Blue Ribbon Task Force on
Educational Leadership.

Peter was the Executive Vice President of the NYC Council of School
Supervisors and Administrators (CSA), Local 1 of AFSA from 2006 to 2012
and served as First Vice President since 2000. Prior to his election as
Vice President, he was a member of the New York Elementary School
Principals Association (NYCESPA) Executive Board for nine years.  As an
Elementary School principal since 1989, Mr. McNally realized the
importance of ongoing professional development for supervisors and administrators in affecting student achievement and at CSA he has been deeply involved in the union’s professional development affiliate, the Executive Leadership Institute (ELI) as a member of the Board of Directors.  He has also served as a Trustee of the CSA Welfare Fund for the past 12 years.

Mr. McNally has received numerous awards including the NYC Board of
Education District 24 “Educator of the Year” Award, and the St John’s
University Phi Delta Kappa “Educator of the Year” Award. He was a member
of the Principal Leadership Network Executive Committee at USDOE Lab at
Brown University for five years and is the Chairman of the School Leaders Network (SLN) Board of Directors.

A native of NYC, Mr. McNally received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees
from CUNY Queens College and his Professional Diploma in Administration
and Supervision from Fordham University. He was a member of the August
2011 graduating class of the NYS AFL-CIO / Cornell Advanced Union
Leadership Institute.
