March on Washington

As the 50th anniversary oMOWf the March on Washington nears, AFSA encourages its members and supporters to take part in the many activities scheduled in celebration and remembrance of this historic event.

The Aug. 28, 1963 march led to the passage of the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and other progressive programs and rights that benefit Americans today.

As we continue the fight for public education, voting rights, the middle class, working people, and in the aftermath of Sandy Hook and Trayvon Martin, it is important now more than ever to  reflect on what progress we have made since the March on Washington and the work that lies ahead of us.
