Labor news around the nation

WILLIAMSVILLE, N.Y.—By a 190-6 vote, members of Communications Workers Local 1122 who toil for the Visiting Nurses Association of Western New York ratified a new 3-year contract, Western New York Labor Today reported.

The local represents 650 VNA workers across western New York. “We fought very hard to getting everything we got,” Local 1122 Vice President Lynn O’Brien told the paper.

“Everyone told (the union) to ‘hold the line, especially when it came to our health care benefits.” VNA’s health benefit plan is unchanged and the workers get a 7.75 percent raise over the life of the pact, which expires in March 2020.
