Collective Bargaining

Collective Bargaining

As part of the labor movement, AFSA fights to protect and strengthen the rights of all workers.

It is critical that workers have a voice at work and are afforded fair hours, wages and working conditions. Collective bargaining strengthens the voice of workers, increases job security and helps employers by reducing labor turnover. It also helps in the prompt and fair settlement of grievances.

Without collective bargaining, employers are free to act arbitrarily and unilaterally against employees. AFSA supports enactment of the Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA) and other public policy efforts that seek to make it easier for workers to join a union and strengthen collective bargaining rights.
