‘Do Your Job’ Rally Held at Supreme Court

Calling on Senate Republicans to do their job and hold a fair hearing and an up-or-down vote for Supreme Court nominee Chief Judge Merrick Garland, working Americans rallied in front of the U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, April 13.

The rally was organized by MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, AFGE, CWA, The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), CREDO Action, and the Congressional Progressive Caucus.

One of the speakers included a retired educator, Sadia White. “As a teacher, principal and central office executive had I just decided to not do my job, the results would have been monumental.  Students would not have fulfilled their potential and would have lost out academically, I would have been found in contempt of my contract and we would lose the public’s trust. So that’s why I am here today alongside many others to ask you that you, Republican Senators, do your job!” stated White.

Other speakers included Rep. Keith Ellison, Rep. Raúl M. Grijalva, President J. David Cox, AFGE National, and a Howard University School of Law student.
