AFSA Signs Letter Calling For the Student Loan Affordability Act

Unless Congress takes action, the interest rate on subsidized Stafford student loans will double on July 1, increasing college costs for over 7 million students, by $1,000 per student, per loan.

AFSA is proud to sign on to this letter to Senate leadership calling for the Student Loan Affordability Act put forth by Senators Harkin (D-IA) and Reed (D-RI) to be adopted, which extends the current low rates until 2015, allowing time for more extensive student loan reform.
