AFSA President and Locals Take Part In Workers Stand For America Rally

This past weekend union members from all over the country gathered in Philadelphia for the Workers Stand For America rally, where over 20,000 people came to participate and show their support for the rights of America’s workers. Featured speakers included DNC Chair, Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz  of Florida, Democratic Congressman Robert Brady of Pennsylvania, and AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka among others. The event’s theme focused around America’s Second Bill of Rights, which reinforces the right that America’s workers have to full employment and liveable wages, full participation in the electoral process, a right to a voice at work, and a right to quality healthcare and education.

AFSA was well-represented at this past weekend’s events. Friday evening President Diann Woodard took the stage with labor leaders from all over the nation at Independence Hall, signing America’s Second Bill of Rights. President Woodard was then joined on Saturday by AFSA members from CSA, Local 1, who rode the bus down from New York City to show their support  and take part in the rally.
